Luxury Catamaran Charter Boat Information

Wild Rumpus is one of the first X5 Plus models to be built by Xquisite Yachts in Cape Town, South Africa. She is designed to take you from one beautiful destination to another all while enveloping you in luxury. The powerful sail plan assures that you will experience the thrill of sailing over blue ocean waters island-to-island like the sailors of antiquity, sans the salt-soaked bunks, splinters, and weevils.

ACCOMODATIONS

Wild Rumpus is perfectly suited for four guests to enjoy her luxurious cabins with en suite heads for complete comfort and privacy. By utilizing the spacious saloon table, which converts into a queen-sized bed, she can accomodate up to six passengers total.

Every cabin features memory foam mattresses, air conditioning, a full electric head, separate shower, opening hatches for ventilation, and outstanding views. Every room also has outlets for charging your portable electronic devices.

THE SALOON

The saloon, much like a living room and kitchen in an apartment, is the indoor social center of Wild Rumpus. Offering a dining table, generous seating, and a gourmet kitchen, guests will feel at home here. In the evening, the saloon table can be converted to a queen-sized bed.

Yes, that is a porthole in the saloon floor for viewing the sea and its creatures below!

THE COCKPIT AND TRAMPOLINES

The cockpit, which is the open area at the stern, is comfortable and inviting. Seating, another dining table, lounges, a day bed, a wet bar, and grill make this space a perfect gathering and relaxation spot. The outdoor fresh water shower features a rain shower head for your post salt-water swim in the beautiful anchorages that you will visit during your adventure.

The cockpit includes a daybed for those who prefer napping or sleeping outdoors.

At the bow is yet more seating and two trampolines (the netted area over the water) that are comfortable and offer great ventilation. The bow trampolines are wonderful for sunbathing, reading, and napping while anchored or underway.

The two bow seats provide fun and exciting thrones from which to survey the open sea while underway. There is no better spot for dolphin-watching!

How does a Wild Rumpus charter differ from a Modern Sailing Global Destinations Flotilla?

A Wild Rumpus charter is a luxury all-inclusive experience that differs in a few ways from a Modern Sailing Global Destinations flotilla.

  • Choice of companions/guests. On a Wild Rumpus charter, you decide who will share the boat with you. On a Global Destinations flotilla, participants purchase a cabin and do not have full control over who will be in the other cabins.
  • Custom itinerary. On Global Destinations flotillas, the weather and the captains ultimately decide the trip itinerary. On Wild Rumpus, you have a lot more say over where and when you will go and what you will do when you get there. Your captain's first job is to keep you and the boat safe, then to provide you with a personalized itinerary that includes your preferred destinations and experiences. Rest and relax as much or as little as you want.
  • Personalized service. The Wild Rumpus crew is available to meet your every need. Snacks, meals, and beverages aboard are prepared for you while you enjoy adventuring or relaxing. This is a different level of service from Modern Sailing's Global Destinations flotillas, in which participants act as crew members cooperating together in the sailing, cooking, and cleaning activities.

Wild Rumpus Charter Testimonials

"I just returned from a delightful week on Wild Rumpus exploring St. Thomas and St. John. I grew up visiting the Virgin Islands, as my father had a sailboat there, and I’ve always said Caribbean sailing trips are my favorite kind of vacation.  But never have I explored them with this much comfort and with a team that took the level of care that the crew of Wild Rumpus offered our family. Wild Rumpus is an exceptional vacation choice: The custom nature of the itinerary, the professionalism of the crew, the luxury of the accommodations (an actually comfortable bed! A spacious master suite! A washer and dryer on board! Plenty of places to recline with a book or an island cocktail!)

"Whatever you need, the crew will design the trip to maximize your family or friends’ time together. What this means in practice is that you end up with more quality time with the people you vacation with.  That meant more time connecting with my daughter, my husband, and my good friend. With meals, cleaning, and plans taken care of, I was able to relax in a way that I haven’t in years! I came back home refreshed, full of great memories of beautiful views, sea turtles, sand castles, expansive starry skies, and laughter. Thank you Wild Rumpus!" ~ Elizabeth H.

"Just came back from one of the most magical and peaceful weeks of my life sailing around St John in the US Virgin Islands. Days filled with swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, SUP’ing, reading, delicious food, amazing people, and frozen drinks really does wonders for the soul, not to mention the star gazing and fish jumping that happen at night. I feel truly blessed and grateful - thank you for a fantastic week. Long live Wild Rumpus!" - Emilie R.

Testimonials

  • Casey Bishop, Corporate Regatta

WE LOVED IT! The whole team was so honored and thankful. Thanks so much for all of your team's hard work and excellence in organizing our party. Of the 22 of us, only 4 had ever been sailing and not in the Bay. The guys had an incredible experience, the skippers were all really great, allowing each of us to be at the wheel. They were kind and empowering. Plus the weather and wind were perfect! It was definitely one of the top 3 experiences that we have shared as leaders in the past 5 + years. We couldn't have asked for a better day!

  • Warren Leiden, Member

I try to get out on the water every week: out the Gate, around Angel, up Raccoon - I love it all. After 18 years as a member of OCSC in Berkeley, I learned to sail the bigger boats at Modern by taking ASA 103 and 104. My ASA 104 instructor Dave Russell was terrific. Also, Captain Bill Moreland has been very generous in giving informal advice whenever I’ve asked him. Thanks to Bill, I no longer have any anxiety about docking!

  • Sara Jane G.

I've taken two classes at MSS&C and was very happy with the program. This is also a great club with lots of opportunities for camaraderie and practice on the water. The boats in the fleet are fantastic and kept in tip-top shape. I highly recommend for all sailors and would-be sailors!
