Delta Flotilla Trip | Modern Sailing

Delta Flotilla Trip

Weekend Trip, 3 days and 2 nights

Experience the fun of an MSC led-flotilla as we head up the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta this fall. Join the flotilla as crew by reserving a cabin on MSC’s lead boat, Kanaloa, or charter one of MSC’s four participating bareboats reserved for Platinum Fleet certified members. Refine skills in multi-day trip planning and explore eastward of the Bay alongside experienced Flotilla Leader and MSC instructor, Captain Blaine McClish.

Begin your three-day, 2-night adventure at Modern Sailing with a complimentary liveaboard and an invitation to attend a special MSC-hosted evening reception. Bring your favorite items to grill or share and meet flotilla participants. Plan to stay aboard your boat Thursday night and be ready for a 9:00am departure the next morning.

From your slip at Modern, embark on a full day of sailing heading out of San Francisco Bay through Raccoon Strait and north towards San Pablo Bay. Continue through the channel as it narrows and arrive in Owl Harbor Marina just before dark. From your slip, enjoy the view of Owl Harbor’s charming 20 acres complete with facilities, spaces for camping, horseshoe pits, and garden. Reserve a campsite in advance or choose to spend the night aboard.

On your return, prepare for a shorter stretch upwind, arriving at the Benicia Marina with plenty of time to explore the city’s historic waterfront restaurants and shops that were once home to shipyards, tanneries, canneries, and a ferry terminal. Depart Benicia in the morning, arriving back in Sausalito for the optional celebratory night on the town.

Enjoy the benefits of an MSC-hosted multi-day flotilla!

Testimonials

  • John Clark

Every aspect of Modern Sailing - training, syllabus, course materials, quality of the boats, quality of the instructors, and the very friendly and helpful staff - exceeded my expectations. Modern Sailing has a first class sailing program in an environment with challenging winds and currents. I look forward to coming back to charter a boat and certainly plan to continue my sailing training.

  • John Kipping

The meeting room was quite adequate and the location most convenient, but the course outline and instruction were outstanding. Modern Sailing is fortunate to have such a well organized instructor in Mr. Stan Lander who teaches very well from a rich professional background. Mr. Lander was generous with his time and patiently in helping students who needed more attention or time in understanding various aspects of the curriculum.

  • Emma & George Stubbs, Sausalito

We just took our ASA 106 at a school in Rhode Island as we prepare for 6 months of cruising in the Caribbean. The class was great, but more than anything it made us really appreciate the quality of teaching and rigor at Modern Sailing. Even though we were the newest to sailing, the group seemed to think that we had the best fundamentals. We felt very well prepared and we see why Modern Sailing has the reputation it does.
