San Francisco Fleet Week 2025: Air Show Full Schedule

Canadian Snowbirds headline Fleet Week SF 2025 Air Show

Canadian Snowbirds Headline the Air Show

New Opportunities for Sailing this Weekend: Available Charters & Fleet Week Club Sail!

The U.S. government shutdown has resulted in an unexpected change for San Francisco Fleet Week 2025: the U.S. Navy Blue Angels have been grounded. This pivotal moment has led to an equally exciting development, creating a truly unique opportunity for spectators on the water.

Stepping in to headline the iconic air show are our Canadian neighbors—the world-renowned Canadian Snowbirds (431 Air Demonstration Squadron). The Snowbirds will deliver a world-class demonstration of aerial skill over the San Francisco Bay, a performance not seen here since 2017.

Due to initial charter reservation cancellations following the news of the grounding, Modern Sailing School & Club now has rare availability. This is an unforeseen benefit for members, providing a last-minute chance to reserve one of the best viewing platforms on the Bay. For the first time during a major Fleet Week, we are able to offer a special Members-Only Club Sail right on the waterfront.

The New Headliner: Why the Canadian Snowbirds Are A Unique Experience

The Canadian Snowbirds are an absolute must-see, bringing a unique brand of precision flying unlike the Blue Angels. Flying the distinctive, vintage CT-114 Tutor jet trainer, the Snowbirds are famous for:

  • Nine-Jet Formations: They perform with nine aircraft, allowing for more intricate and dense formation choreography than most other military demonstration teams.
  • Unrivaled Precision: In many of their signature maneuvers, including the "heart" and the nine-abreast formation, the Snowbirds fly with a breathtaking separation of as little as 1.8 meters (just under 6 feet!) between jets.
  • Classic Aerobatics: Expect high-energy maneuvers and thrilling signature moves like the "Canada Burst" and "Downward Bomb Burst" right over the Bay, perfectly framed by the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz.

If you thought the Blue Angels were thrilling, wait until you see the collective precision and close-proximity flying of the Snowbirds. This is the air show that will have people asking, "Did you see the year the Canadians took over Fleet Week?"

Captain Jeff Cathers is really cool. I had such a great time on the Farallones Day Trip. It was actually my very best day of 2020. Thank you so much for coordinating the trip.

The Full Moon Sail with Skipper Bob Gutsgell was Ah-Mayzing!! The group dynamic was lovely and the views spectacular. I can't say enough good things about the experience. Thanks so much for the wonderful Club Sails, they are really great.

I took ASA 101 with them recently. They have the best customer service I've ever seen! I mistyped my address when I signed up online so didn't receive the textbook. I called and the lady immediately sent me another copy! Everyone at the club is super friendly.

We just took our ASA 106 at a school in Rhode Island as we prepare for 6 months of cruising in the Caribbean. The class was great, but more than anything it made us really appreciate the quality of teaching and rigor at Modern Sailing. Even though we were the newest to sailing, the group seemed to think that we had the best fundamentals. We felt very well prepared and we see why Modern Sailing has the reputation it does.

The vessel was clean and in fine condition - very nice boat for training, well-equipped.
