Team Chao Pescao J/105:
With a total of five races from November to March, the 2024-2025 SYC Chili Midwinter Series have just concluded, leaving behind a trail of thrilling races and some truly remarkable performances. Among them, our very own Club Team Chao Pescao, that competed as part of Modern Sailing Level 2 Development Racing Program. The team etched their name in the annals of this year's series, demonstrating a stunning growth in skills and competitiveness.
Starting the season as a solid mid-fleet contender with a 4th and two consecutive 5th place finishes in a fleet of 9 boats, the team demonstrated a relentless dedication to honing their tactics and boat handling. As the series progressed, Chao Pescao's consistency improved, and their understanding of the challenging conditions grew. This culminated in a breathtaking finale where Chao Pescao sailed to victory in the final two races of the series. This remarkable achievement propelled them to a well-deserved second place in the overall classification.

Team Mymble (J/99)
Team Mymble competed in eight races between November and March, combining the four-race Berkeley Midwinter Series with four BYC Chowders. Starting the season near the middle of a large and competitive fleet, we steadily advanced by absorbing Katie’s tactical guidance and sharpening our light-air boat handling skills. The smaller, lighter J/70s and Melges 24s frequently got the best of us, especially on corrected times. Yet, as the season progressed, our efforts yielded results, and we consistently out-sailed most of the larger boats. By the February Midwinter finale, we overtook our most formidable rival, the Santa Cruz 40 Quiver and left the entire J/105 fleet in our wake.
Building on a season of remarkable growth, this crew looks forward to competing in longer YRA races over the summer while Mymble trains a new Level 2 Development Race Team in the BYC Friday Beercans. Let's cheer on these amazing atheletes as they represent Modern Sailing's Level 2 Race Teams in the Spring Series.
