  Basic Keelboat (ASA 101)  
  Basic Coastal Cruising (ASA 103)  
   

 

This hands-on class will give you skills you need to find your way around the world using the sun, planets and stars as navigation aids. Lab portions of the class will take place in the evenings giving students the opportunity to actually shoot stars.

Students will learn how to take sights from the heavenly bodies and plot lines of position based on this information. Sight reduction, the use of almanacs and tables and principles of noon sights will be covered.

This is an ASA certified class and is a prerequisite to Offshore Passage making. Cost is $295. Includes text book, tests and instruction. This class is taught by Capt. Charles Warren at our headquarters in Sausalito. The format for this class is as follows.
