This summer, Mark participated in the 2022 Pacific Cup Race, double-handing his Hanse 342 "Twelve-Winded Sky" with crew member Randy Leasure. During a recent Team Sail at Modern Sailing Berkeley, Bill had his first taste of sailing the J/105 and was immediately smitten with the model. He was elated with her eager swiftness in light winds, graceful responsiveness, stability, and ease of balance.
Sailing can be relaxing, refreshing, invigorating, and sometimes challenging. As an activity that involves human nature and working with the temperamental forces of wind and waves, an incident or accident that results in loss or damage can happen to any skipper.

The summer after eighth grade, Lee lived on a small lake in southern Indiana. As a born "outdoors person," the opportunity to sail the lake with two cute boys on their Hobie Cat was not one to be passed up.
The vessel was clean and in fine condition - very nice boat for training, well-equipped.

I try to get out on the water every week: out the Gate, around Angel, up Raccoon - I love it all. After 18 years as a member of OCSC in Berkeley, I learned to sail the bigger boats at Modern by taking ASA 103 and 104. My ASA 104 instructor Dave Russell was terrific. Also, Captain Bill Moreland has been very generous in giving informal advice whenever I’ve asked him. Thanks to Bill, I no longer have any anxiety about docking!
